ATO set to ramp up small-business support in 2018

Do you want to learn more about tax basics, good record-keeping and employer essentials? Would you like to know about the tools the ATO provide to help and support your small business? You’re invited to attend their small business workshops, designed to help make managing your tax and super responsibilities easier, freeing up valuable time to spend on your business and not on your books. You’ll also be shown how to use our online tools and resources

They are holding a series of these small business workshops around the country in the first half of this year. If there isn’t a workshop in your area at a time that suits you, they also offer online webinars you can watch in the comfort of your home or office.

And on 26 February 2018, the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH) will be available through the ATO’s online services. As a result of integrating with online services, the new-look SBSCH will have functionality including the ability to sort employee listings and payment by credit card.

The online services give small-business owners access to a range of tax and super services with one logon, including lodging activity statements and updating your business registration details.

To manage the transition to the new system as effectively as possible, the SBSCH will be unavailable from Tuesday 20 February 2018 to Sunday 25 February 2018 inclusive. During this time the ATO will be transferring your data across to the new system. This means the last super contributions you can make using the old system will be close of business, Monday 19 February 2018.
