New online platform Crecera aims to help small-business owners

Entrepreneurs Jacquie Hannan and Sarah Duncan talked to different small-business owners and came away with a sobering discovery.

“30 per cent of the businesses we reached out to were unsure if they’d still be in business in two years time,” Hannan said. “A third of those business owners said that lack of motivation and inspiration would likely be the reason they shut up shop, with a whopping 60 per cent revealing it would likely be due to lack of support.”

For the pair however, this insight provided them the inspiration to develop an online learning platform for Australian entrepreneurs called Crecera.

The platform takes its name from the Spanish word crecerá which means “will grow”. The pair shared that the word perfectly encapsulates the aspiration of the platform to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses.

“The amount of times we’ve seen our favourite businesses share news online about shutting down has been really difficult to see, so it just seemed logical for us to put our knowledge together in the form of short, self-paced and affordable online courses,” Duncan shared.

As such, Crecera.com.au is offering online courses, coaching opportunities, free webinars and mentorship programs, with plans to host in-person events around Brisbane to further help local entrepreneurs with getting the most out of their businesses.

The duo also shared that the venture provided an opportunity for them to work together after having known each other for a long time, while also helping entrepreneurs gain the support and knowledge they need in spite of their limited resources.

“We understand how tough it is right now for business owners, so we want to offer some of our courses to people who really need it,” she added.
