Small regional business Poseidon Animal Health makes its entry in the US market

Poseidon Animal Health, an Australian privately-owned company that manufactures animal digestive health supplements for equine and canine breeds, has established a presence in the United States with the launch of its equine products in that market, with stateside manufacturing, distribution, sales, customer service and veterinary expert support being provided there.

Founded by husband and wife team Peter Lord and Linda Goldspink-Lord in 2017, Poseidon Animal Health has grown to become the biggest player in the equine gut health supplement market across Australia and New Zealand. Its products are also being exported to the UAE, Europe, and Asia and is recommended by leading veterinarians, retailers, horse breeders and equine professionals,

Having achieved 85 per cent growth across its domestic and export markets in the last year, Poseidon Animal Health CEO Peter Lord said the US has been part of their long-term growth plan, with a huge potential market:

“The US equine industry contributes $ 122 billion to the US economy, and the market is 10 times the size of Australia and New Zealand combined, totalling over seven million horses,” Lord said, adding that customer demand played a part in the US launch plans.

“We see the opportunity to mirror our success in the USA where we know consumer demand is high, due to the volume of enquiries and product requests from US customers we already receive,” Lord added.

Poseidon’s head US veterinarian, Dr Erin Roddy (pictured), said that research has identified that poor gut health can play a major role in contributing to many health ailments in horses and dogs.

“So, we believe true health comes from supporting strong digestive and gut health. Wellness from within starts with effective digestive supplements, backed by science,” Dr Roddy said.

The company also shared that it plans to use the same education-based marketing approach in the US market, which has proven to have helped thousands of horses and dogs throughout its existing markets,

“Our success to date has been built on providing education to horse and dog owners, who ultimately want to learn more about how they can support their animals to live healthier lives,” Lord said. “We’ll use the same approach in the US, hosting educational webinars with equine experts and having a presence at established equine events, so that we can help US horse owners better understand the gut and digestive health of their animals.”

Poseidon Animal Health also looks forward to building more communities, especially in the US, where animal owners can seek expert advice and feel empowered about making decisions on behalf of their horses and dogs as it continues to make further innovations on their products.

“Poseidon Animal Health products are used by equestrians at all levels, from Olympians, international show jumpers and Grand Prix dressage riders, to breeders, pony club riders and happy hackers. We’re excited to help horses across various disciplines throughout the USA,” Lord concluded.
