Arnott’s Group has partnered with Cargill to launch Cargill’s SustainConnect program, aiming to strengthen sustainable canola oil production in Australia.
The program aims to provide farmers with essential skills, resources, and market access to create new revenue streams for Australian growers and meet the growing demand from domestic and international customers.
Cargill SustainConnect allows Australian canola growers to select from various sustainable strategies, including crop residue retention, reduced- or no-tillage techniques, and nutrient-management interventions.
“Agriculture holds a unique opportunity to adopt sustainable practices that address the global climate challenge while improving economic prospects for farmers – the backbone of our food system,” Ben Fargher, Cargill environmental market lead in Apac, said.
“By implementing changes at the grassroots level of our supply chains, with partners like The Arnott’s Group, we can significantly reduce emissions and enhance soil resilience for future generations,” Fargher added.
Australian canola farmers in NSW, Queensland, SA, and Victoria can already participate in the SustainConnect program; Cargill plans to expand the program soon to include WA.
