Fitness app Vitruvian has been ranked in top spot among Australia and New Zealand’s Most Innovative Companies by the Australian Financial Review (AFR) in its BOSS list this year, ranking first in the Manufacturing and Consumer Goods category.
The recognition was the outcome of a rigorous assessment process managed by Australian behavioural science consultancy, Inventium, in conjunction with a panel of industry expert judges, based on Inventium’s Innovation Framework which is comprised of the nine elements that drive innovation. One of the criteria is the organisation’s top innovation from the previous two years, particularly the problem it is solving, the quality and uniqueness of the solution, and its level of impact.
The judges recognised Vitruvian’s Trainer+ which combines a smart-connected fitness product that can be easily slid under a bed and a platform that acts as a virtual personal trainer in a single offering. The app also gives users access to 200+ exercises, classes curated by elite fitness couches, goal-oriented programs, data tracking and performance insights.
“We are so proud to be featured on this prestigious list,” Jon Gregory, founder of Vitruvian, said. “Vitruvian is a very young company, we launched our first product to the market in November 2020 right in the middle of a global pandemic.
“Since then, we have been tinkering away making the tech better and better as we always strive to improve and add more value to our customers,” Gregory added. “We have a product that I am so proud of and a community that is highly engaged.”
Dr Amantha Imber, Inventium’s founder, said that it’s exciting to see the number of ideas that are not only creating enormous value for the BOSS list’s entrants but are also contributing to a positive impact on our planet and diverse communities.
And Sally Patten, the editor of AFR BOSS, stressed how encouraging it is to see Australian entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs continuing to come up with fresh ideas and executing them.
“Innovations such as those highlighted in the 2022 AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies list should help to propel our economy,” Patten said.
