Facebook introduces grey verification badge for local Aussie businesses

The new way of authenticating your business.

Facebook has announced it will begin to expand the Verified Pages program to include local businesses in Australia.

Verified Pages of local businesses will have a publicly visible grey badge on their page. This is to give businesses a way to show that their page is the authentic representation of their business on Facebook, and to give people a signal that they’ve found and are interacting with the authentic page.

“We are expanding our Verified Pages program to include local businesses for the first time,” said Kirsten Bury, product marketing manager, Facebook Pages.

“Now, local businesses in Australia can add a badge to their page that lets people know they’re visiting that business’s official Facebook presence. We plan to extend Verified Pages for local businesses to more countries soon.”

Once business verification has rolled out to a market, the page admin can go into their Settings to request to verify their Page. A page can become verified through their phone number or official documents.

New options for verifying a business Page can be found here.

The function will also be rolled out to the US, Canada, UK and New Zealand – any local businesses Facebook can verifies in those markets will get a grey badge.
