Incubator program to offer access to the Indian market for Australian migrant entrepreneurs

Ausindustry has announced the launch of an incubator program to help migrant entrepreneurs achieve business success.

The Big LEAP Incubator program is created through a partnership between Arrow Digital and La Trobe University and is being funded by AusIndustry as part of the Incubator Support Initiative.

The program is envisioned to help migrant-led start-ups develop the capabilities to succeed in international markets, with selected participants going through a 12-month program to develop and sharpen their go-to-market strategy, test new markets, and build a network for long term success.

The key outcomes of the program will include market testing, connections, strategic alliances and partnerships to propel growth. The Big LEAP incubator will also serve as a bridge between the Australian and Indian markets.

Serving as a lead mentor is Jasmine Batra, co-founder of Arrow Digital and herself a migrant from India who arrived in the country in 2004.

“I had no connections and had to work from the ground up to build my network and grow my business,” Batra said. “If we can save other upcoming Australian migrant business founders valuable time doing the hard yards, then imagine how much more they can be capable of.”

The Big LEAP is open to all first and second-generation Australian migrant business founders with a viable tech-focused business idea and product post-seed stage.

There will be two cohorts of 20 participants over two consecutive years, with the opportunity for the top six participants to take part in an Immersion trip to India at the end of 2023.
