Entrepreneur and author, Olivia Carr, has launched a new initiative to empower small-business owners by providing free hands-on guidance and support that address vital aspects of running a small business including self-made mindset, mental health, financial management, branding, customer care, PR and marketing, and sales.
The initiative – the Self-Made Squad – is a component of the Self-Made Academy, a free online community that will launch on 20 November to coincide with the publication of Carr’s book, Self-Made. The Self-Made Academy will offer small-business owners a wealth of resources, a supportive community, and expert guidance, with a special focus on those having to navigate a challenging operating environment who are looking for assistance. Its aim is to contribute to the resilience and success of small businesses, emphasising the importance of community support and empowerment.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and they deserve every opportunity to thrive,” Carr said. “The Self-Made Squad brings together a team of experts committed to lifting these businesses to new heights, while the Self-Made Academy will be a hub for ongoing learning and community support.
“With the ongoing impact on the economy, small businesses are experiencing unprecedented strains, not only on their financial stability but also on their mental health,” Carr added. “I recognised that many of them need immediate, practical support, and the Self-Made Squad is poised to provide just that.”
The free social impact initiative is fully funded by Carr’s Shhh Silk brand, under their giving program, embodying their brand ethos of “doing good is in our DNA”.
The Self-Made Squad, which is comprised of the whole Shhh Silk team, will dedicate a day every month to support small-business owners, providing expertise across all areas of running a small business, giving entrepreneurs access to a new level of support. The initiative is designed to make a tangible difference in the lives of small-business owners by delving into the unique challenges each business faces, providing tailored solutions and expert advice.
Businesses interested in applying for the Self-Made Squad’s free support can fill out an application form, available on the Self-Made Academy website. Selected businesses will have the opportunity to host the Self-Made Squad for a full day of personalised coaching, free of charge.
