Brisbane businesswoman named finalist in four categories at Women Changing the World Awards

Brisbane businesswoman Elena Gosse, CEO of AIS Water, has been nominated as a finalist in four categories of the international Women Changing the World Awards, a global awards program that recognises women who make a positive difference in the world across in the realms of business, sustainability, leadership, health, education, product development, innovation and technology.

Gosse has been named as finalist in the following categories:

  • Business of the Year
  • Hall of Fame
  • Migrant Leadership Award
  • Thought Leader of the Year.

AIS is a Brisbane-based, family-owned water disinfection technology business that provides access to clean swimming water to people around the world with the aim of helping them to achieve significant water and cost savings.

An immigrant from Russia who didn’t speak English when she arrived in Australia, Gosse has overcome gender discrimination and a childhood that was seriously affected by domestic and family violence. Beyond the business, she is a public speaker and advocate for women looking to find their voice and embrace leadership. She is also passionate about raising awareness and funds to help end domestic and family violence.

“It is an incredible honour to be named a finalist in not one but four categories for the Women Changing the World Awards,” Gosse, an Inside Small Business 2019 Top 50 Small Business Leader, said. “I am passionate about the work we do because clean swimming water helps to enhance people’s lives and the sustainable technology we have developed ensures significant cost savings and less water usage which also enhances our environment.”

These award nominations are just another feather in Gosse’s cap after a career adorned with 55 business and personal awards an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) she was awarded in 2022 for her services to manufacturing and the community.

The winners of the Women Changing the World Awards – whose stated aim is to “elevate, celebrate, connect and support women in their journey as changemakers, trailblazers and leaders” – will be named by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, at a gala ceremony in London on 25 May.
