Melanie Vairawanathan
Melanie Vairawanathan is a dedicated family lawyer, founder of Melmark Law, and co-founder of The Virtual Office. Her journey from Sri Lanka to Australia at the age of 17 inspired her commitment to providing inclusive and compassionate legal support to those in need, particularly victims of family violence and those from diverse backgrounds, including the LGBTQI community. Shortly after establishing Melmark Law, Melanie co-founded The Virtual Office, a pioneering platform that offers law firms access to a diverse, cost-effective pool of legal, paralegal, and administrative professionals, transforming how legal services are delivered. As a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, each of Melanie’s businesses reflects her dedication to breaking the status quo. The Virtual Office boasts an 85% female workforce in Sri Lanka, while Melmark Law in Australia is comprised of an all-female multicultural team. She also actively volunteers with the Fitzroy Legal Community Night phone service and supports efforts to combat family violence. She also donates to support women’s shelters and education initiatives in Sri Lanka and mentors passionate young lawyers, many of whom have gone on to enjoy exceptional careers.
