Boutique coffee company Hunt and Brew transition to recycled packaging

Australian boutique coffee maker Hunt and Brew has announced that they are now using 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles for their products, with the bottles also being 100 per cent kerbside recyclable.

Hunt and Brew said that the shift to more sustainable packaging ensures that they are continuously making an effort to reduce the negative environmental impact in their manufacturing and other activities. They said that brands have a responsibility to deliver a sustainable choice to consumers as they become increasingly aware of waste and the need to protect the environment.

“At Hunt and Brew, we want to be part of the circular economy with recycled plastic bottles,” the company’s manager Emily Creer said. “Our consumers are concerned about single-use plastics and this in addition to the container deposit scheme helps to ensure we close the loop.”

Hunt and Brew launched Australia’s first cold brew product earlier this year, made of local coffee beans sourced from far north Queensland without added sugar.

“We are proud to be taking a broad view in terms of sustainability by looking across the entire supply chain,” Creer said. “Our Australia coffee not only has recycled plastic bottles, but also is supporting local Queensland farmers and reducing the food miles across the country.”

The move comes with recent studies indicating that 90 per cent of Australian consumers are concerned about sustainability and that businesses and brands should be most responsible for the impact on the environment.
