Aussie start-ups joining 2025 evokeAG event unveiled

More than 50 start-ups and scale-ups from 10 countries, including Australia, have been selected to take part in the Asia Pacific agrifood innovation event, evokeAG.

Set to be held in Brisbane on 18-19 February, evokeAG will see the participation of a diverse and innovative group of start-ups hailing from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Chile, India, Israel, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, representing a cross-section of the global agrifood innovation ecosystem.

The evokeAG. 2025 Startup Program offers a platform for start-ups and scale-ups to showcase their solutions to key challenges in agriculture, from sustainable agriculture and precision farming to supply chain optimisation and biotechnology, as well as attract investment, forge commercial partnerships and drive positive change in the agrifood sector.

AgriFutures General Manager, Global Innovation Networks, Harriet Mellish, shared that the program this year received an overwhelming number of responses. 

“We received a record number of 124 applications from 22 different countries, which demonstrates the important role of evokeAG in providing a platform for cross-industry and cross-regional connections,” Mellish said. “The coming together of diverse perspectives is vital for the future growth of the global agrifood sector. In an era of rapidly evolving and often volatile market and climatic conditions, the need for innovative solutions and partnership across the agrifood supply chain has never been more critical.”

Up-and-coming start-ups will have an opportunity to new ideas and technologies from 40 exhibitors in the ‘Startup Alley’ section during the event alongside the advancements of ten returning enterprises at ‘Scaleup Station’.

In addition, the 2025 edition will see homegrown Aussie talent joined by representatives from start-ups from Europe, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region as part evokeAG. new ‘Agventure Downunder’ initiative.

Mellish explained that the enterprises involved in the ‘Agventure Downunder’ program are ready to take the next step and scale into Australia.

“These are start-ups that are looking for business insights, networks and tailored market access support to deliver promising technologies into an Australian marketplace that has great potential for growth,” Mellish said. “Global brands view us as a launching pad for innovation, eager to partner with us because they recognise Australia is in a strong position to capitalise on new technologies emerging for agriculture.”

Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said the upcoming event helps position Queensland as an industry leader in AgTech.

“These start-ups represent an exciting opportunity to merge global expertise with local insights, improving productivity with the adoption of cutting-edge AgTech and innovation,” Perrett said. “I am proud to see such heightened recognition for the industry.”

AgriFutures evokeAG is the largest showcase of innovation in the southern hemisphere, providing a platform for innovators, scientists, investors, industry experts and agrifood producers to share bold ideas and solutions for the future of global agriculture.
