Three critical ingredients for a successful website

Small Businesses Web Design

No one likes solving complex puzzles in the name of exploring websites – navigation is simple and quick on a successful website

Just as a picture is worth thousand words, a professional looking website is worth your business’s revenue.

Getting a fully-functional, successful website is not a task for the large companies that have a reserved budget for site development and maintenance.

But for the small business that doesn’t have an individual budget in reserve for website management, getting their website designed can seem like a tough job. A low budget often makes them choose cheap service providers, meaning they won’t necessarily be fortunate enough to get reliable services.

Many is the time a business that tends to avoid some critical aspects of their website eventually incur heavy losses without even noticing them

Make sure you get the value of every single cent invested in creating your website, instead of repenting later and having to find some other web-design services to redesign your site. It could turn out to be a much more expensive exercise than you originally estimated. And, in the worst case scenario, you run short of money and don’t have the funds to re-invest in your website design.

Here are the three critical ingredients to designing a successful small-business website:

  • Homepage should reveal the most about you

Modern-day, mobile users favour the idea of understanding your business with just a quick look. They don’t want to waste much time on crawling websites that are simply not relevant. Make sure the very first page, the landing page, from where users will get redirected, should describe the business prospects you offer clearly and boldly.

  • Content is properly organised

Handing over your website-design project to someone else doesn’t mean that you should rely on them for everything. The most overlooked section of a website is the content. Once your project is delivered, make sure every service and product is labelled with correct names. And check there are no other issues with the content – be it alignment, formatting or any other errors. If you find any such issue, get it corrected there and then.

  • Navigation should not be complicated

A complicated navigation can push your customers away as they will not be able to identify the right direction they should take for getting what they want. How would you react if you encountered a site with a complicated navigation? Sounds irritating, right? It’s the same for visitors to your site. No one likes solving complex puzzles in the name of exploring websites. So always use the golden rules of navigation so everything is simple and saves your customers time and effort.

These are the most basic things that you must look out to provide a smooth experience to your visitors. There are follow-on techniques to make your successful website even better that we will discuss in the next post.
