FWO launch hub to help small business with workplace laws

The Fair Work Ombudsman is concerned that small businesses often lack the resources and ready access to professional help that can make it easier to meet their obligations with regard to workplace laws. To assist in this area, they have created the Small Business Showcase – an online hub that has been designed specifically to help small-business owners stay on top of workplace laws. The Showcase consolidates a number of resources that are tailored towards assisting small business owners, regardless of what stage their business is at.
While there have been a number of recent high-profile cases of what appear to be systematic cheating workers’ of their entitlements, many situations the FWO come across have a “grey area” in which business owners claims they have fallen short of their obligations due to a lack of awareness of what those obligations are. The Small Business Showcase is designed to give the owners of businesses, however small they are and in whatever industry they operate, clear and simple guidance.
Features of the Small Business Showcase include:
Information on topics that are most relevant to small business owners, such as hiring, paying and managing employees, handling employee requests, and keeping accurate records.
Short instructional videos which demonstrate how to use our tools and resources, including the Pay Calculator and our Online Learning Centre.
An interactive small business checklist so that small business owners can check how they rate against critical business requirements.
