To support this trend, Kwik Kopy has seen a spike in the number of people looking to purchase a franchise, which has increased by 53 per cent in 2018 compared to 2017.

Kwik Kopy training and development manager John Post has been supporting new business owners and franchisees for over 20 years and believes planning, passion and visualising success are critical for new business owners. His top five tips for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to start their own business are:

  • Plan for success: set goals for the key things you want to achieve from now up until five years and have a detailed business plan with twelve month cash projections.
  • Find the right people: employ people who have skills you don’t have. Employ on attitude not knowledge, train your people well and look after them.
  • Problem solve: measure your success by how well you make decisions, identify trends and get on with it.
  • Promote your business: focus on current customers, generate growth by winning new ones and become well known and respected in your own space.
  • Be passionate and positive about your business: talk it up to everyone and to yourself, live and breathe it and your staff will respond. Love what you do and balance your life to stay focused and happy.
