New platform changes online advertising game for SMEs

Marketing services provider, Sensis, has launched a unique one-stop online platform which will allow small businesses to design professional digital (banner) ads and create a detailed targeting plan within minutes.

As well as creating the actual digital ads, Sensis Digital Display allows SMEs access to Sensis’ digital media buying power, audience targeting and mobile-first technology – something previously only accessible to the big end of town with large marketing budgets.

Sensis Digital Display is the first product to be launched since the company’s two-year long program of digital transformation was completed in July 2016. This has been an organisation-wide change, using innovation and agile processes to move the former directories business into a position as Australia’s leading digital marketing services company. As the world is increasingly viewed through a small screen – 73 percent of Australians use their mobile phone to access the internet,* SMEs need to be able to reach potential customers wherever they are.

The benefits of being in the digital space are clear: 60 percent of SMEs state having a website has increased their business effectiveness,* 48 percent use social media to boost their business* and 32 percent have seen increased customer awareness as a result.* The number of Australian SMEs with a website increased quite significantly last year – from 56 to 61 percent,* as did their social media presence – up 17 points to 48 percent (2016 Sensis Social Media Report).

Sensis Executive General Manager – Product and Technology, Danny Gravell said that while SMEs have begun to recognise the need to boost their online presence, one of the biggest challenges currently facing them is navigating the complex digital marketing space.

“The Sensis Digital Display platform has been designed with the first-time digital marketer in mind. The interface is simple to navigate and the platform does all the work, giving SMEs access to customers who are searching online at a scale and accuracy previously only available to big marketers,” he said.

“Suddenly, a hairdresser has the same access to their clients as say, a car maker does. The playing field has been levelled for the first time.”

“The ever-changing digital marketing space can be overwhelming, but Sensis Digital Display offers a user-friendly, affordable solution to create personalised, targeted banner ads, displayed on quality sites across the internet.”

“SMEs need to stay innovative and secure a competitive edge in an ever-evolving digital space. The internal Sensis digital transformation has given us the ability to be responsive to these needs at a size and scale that gives even the smallest business access to leading edge technology,” said Gravell.

“Sensis Digital Display allows us to help SMEs overcome today’s business challenges, seize more opportunities and reach new customers.”
