SMEs get to go head-to-head with big retailers for awards

Retail customer excellence awards

The Retail Customer Excellence Awards offer small retailers a chance to shine among their larger counterparts

Submissions remain open for retailers to enter the inaugural Retail Customer Excellence Awards held in May.

The awards cover the full spectrum of retailing, with plenty of opportunities for small businesses to shine.

Attentive customer service and inspiring loyalty among clients is a cornerstone of success for smaller retailers, putting them in a strong position to compete in the ‘customer centricity excellence’, ‘personalisation excellence’ and ‘in store customer experience’ categories.

The Internet of Things, and the technological advances it has inspired, has led to a boom in the number of SMEs selling their products online – putting them in the picture for the ‘online customer service experience’ award.

And small businesses are at the forefront of the drive for sustainability, focusing on how they interact with their communities, so there is every chance the ‘responsible impact excellence’ award will be carried off by a smaller retailer.

The awards event, a collaboration between Inside Retail and Association and Communications Events, organisers of the Total Retail & Payments EXPO conference, expects to raise the profile of Australian retail businesses who place the customer at the core of everything they do, says event manager, Catherine van der Meulen.

‘We are experiencing a dynamic, ever evolving retail landscape where technology has taken centre stage,’ said Catherine. ‘These awards shift the lime light to the people of the businesses who create lasting and memorable experiences for their customers every day.’

Awards submissions close on April 3. The complete list of awards categories is as follows:

  • Customer centricity excellence award
  • In store Customer Experience Award
  • Online Customer Experience Award
  • Omni-channel Customer Experience Award
  • In store Technology Implementation Experience Award
  • Loyalty Program Experience Award
  • Personalisation Excellence Award

Winners of the top prize receive the mark of excellence, with the positioning of the award giving credibility, creating trust and authenticity to a brand culminating in improved ROI, said Booktopia CEO, Tony Nash. ‘Winning awards and displaying them on our site has brought a real and tangible return on investment with increase in conversion rates.’
