Register or renew your business name

Videos from ASIC aim to help

ASIC has produced a series of videos to help business owners use its business-names register and other online services.

‘The videos were developed to support customers with common transactions such as registering and renewing business names,’ said ASIC Commissioner Greg Tanzer.

In 2013–14 ASIC registered more than 299,000 business names, renewed 350,000 and made 98,000 updates to its register.

Given the demand for these services, ASIC aims to provide businesses with tools that are practical and make it easier for you to do business with the organisation.

Some of the most popular user guides have also been turned into tutorials that step you through common business-name transactions.’

The videos and tutorials build on other ASIC resources recently developed to engage and connect with business, including the ‘ASIC business checks’ and ‘NZAUConnect’ smartphone applications.

‘We’re expanding our online presence to reach customers who prefer to interact with us via digital channels,’ Mr Tanzer said.

The videos cover various topics that are important to business owners to simplify their interactions with the ASIC business names register, including:

  • What is a business name and how to get one
  • Registering a business name
  • Renewing your business name
  • Transferring your business name

The videos and tutorials are available now through the ASIC website or YouTube.
