New onboarding tool for small business launched

onboarding, onboarding process

Sydney-based technology start-up Deputy has announced the release of Deputy Onboarding, an easy-to-use, tool for compiling, saving and sharing vital documents when bringing new employees on board.

The new feature allows business owners to accurately and efficiently capture the details of new starters in Deputy, by automating the process of filling in manual paperwork for new employees to just a few clicks. The feature can be used on desktop or mobile, fitting with the flexible schedules of small-business owners.

Employee Onboarding digitally collects and record vital employee information, including:

  • personal Details
  • bank (payment deposit) information
  • Tax File Number
  • emergency Contacts
  • superannuation details.

The new tool will also assist small-business owners with the digital transition required for implementation of Single Touch Payroll reporting, from 1 July 2019. Under the new regulation, small businesses will be required to report on payday to the ATO. Deputy helps streamline this process and allows businesses to easily share employees’ tax and super information. By ticking the boxes when filling in their details, employees confirm the details entered are correct.

For Xero customers, once employees have completed on-boarding, the managers click a button that immediately syncs the employee’s details to Xero, thus removing the entire need for manual administration from the equation.

Daniel Fortescue, General Manager of Nomad, said “We work in a fast-paced industry so ensuring that new joiners don’t have to sweat the small stuff is key for us. With so much to learn and think about at a new job, Deputy’s Onboarding feature has made the process so much easier for our team members. Admin tasks like Tax File Numbers and superannuation are easily handled through the app so as a business we know these necessary documents are managed and our employees can focus on getting up to speed in their new roles.”

Ashik Ahmed, Cofounder, CEO and CTO at Deputy said, “2019 has already been a massive year for Deputy. We’ve remained committed to reaching ambitious growth targets across our team, product, and our ultimate goal of ‘Every Shift on Deputy’. Launching Employee Onboarding takes us one step closer to that goal.

“It’s a simple, powerful tool that will save businesses time and money and help new employees hit the ground running. We can’t wait to see the ripple effect it has across Australian business, particularly as more small businesses adopt digital tools, in line with Single Touch Payroll reporting.”
