‘This is not about telling people how to vote, but making sure people have all the information to make an informed decision.’
The Council of Small Business Organisations of Australia – COSBOA – has decided to launch a mail campaign in the Labor-held Melbourne seat of Batman, as well as eight other marginals, highlighting what they say is the opposition’s anti-business stance.
‘We’re doing a mail-out to select marginal seats to inform their vote. This mail-out will list the policies that are good for small business and compare them to the policies of other players in the election,’ COSBOA CEO Peter Strong told Inside Small Business on Friday.
‘This is not about telling people how to vote, but making sure people have all the information to make an informed decision. Any contributions that organisations can make to support this campaign are welcomed, to ensure that small businesses thrive now and into the future,’ Mr Strong added.
Treasurer Scott Morrison has savaged Bill Shorten’s leadership after the peak small business body threw its support behind the Greens over Labor.
Mr Morrison jumped on the declaration from the COSBOA that the opposition’s stance on business has regressed under Mr Shorten, vouching for the minor party instead.
‘It was a bizarre position,’ the treasurer said.
‘For goodness sake, where has Bill Shorten taken the Labor party … that the Greens are even seen as a more credible economic manager,’ he told Sky News on Friday.
