“Cadence: A Tale of Fast Business Growth” by Australian small-business owner Pete Williams was announced as the winner of the Gold Medal Award in the Best Business Book category in the 15th Annual International Business Awards this week.

The International Business Awards is the world’s premier business awards program, receiving over 3900 nominations from 74 nations and territories.

Williams’ book is a parable (based on a true story) of a business owner and triathlon coach named JJ who left his stable job as a teacher to fulfil his dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Unfortunately, two years after opening his bike shop, JJ finds himself in a place that is all too familiar to most business owners?struggling to stay afloat. That all changes, fast, when an athlete he coaches teaches him how to turn the store’s profitability around with seven key “10 per cent wins.”

“It’s such an honor to have a little book from Australia make such an impact on a world stage,” Williams said. “I’m in trenches every day running our business, so to see this story and lessons helping other entrepreneurs around the world is amazing.”

Cadence communicates Williams’s “Seven Levers” approach to business growth through a unique vehicle which is the story. Instead of offering a list of do’s and don’ts for business success, Cadence imparts wisdom by inviting readers on a journey into the lives of two characters who each have something valuable to teach the other.

A Southern Region Finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Program, a Small Business ICON (Best-in-Class) Recipient, and an Australian Business Award Winner for Marketing Excellence, Pete Williams is the co-founder of numerous businesses across varying industries- from Infiniti Telecommunications to SimplyHeadsets.com.au. He is also a Professor-of-Practice at Deakin University.
