Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, in partnership with StartUp Victoria and the City of Melbourne, will hold their second [email protected] Cloud Startup Contest on 23 August 2018.
To be held in Melbourne Town Hall, the contest will see some of Australia’s most innovative technology entrepreneurs pitch their businesses to a judging panel consisting of venture capitalists, business leaders and Alibaba executives. The top two Melbourne finalists will be invited to a city battle on 14 September 2018 in Shanghai where a further six finalists will go on to pitch at the Global Final in Hangzhou, China. In addition, the Melbourne finalists will take home USD$10,000 credit for cloud resources, a one-on-one workshop with Alibaba Cloud Solution Architect and more.

Ma added, “The talent witnessed during the 2017 inaugural event was impressive ranging from consumer cancer portals, marketing automation solutions, and workplace safety solutions using augmented reality. The team at Alibaba Cloud is excited to hear what innovative ideas the entrepreneurs of Melbourne will have.”
In addition to travelling to Shanghai for the city battle on 14 September 2018, the Melbourne Finalists will take home USD $10,000 credit for cloud product resources from Alibaba Cloud, a one-on-one workshop with an Alibaba Cloud Solution Architect, brand awareness and visibility with local Australian VC and investors, and a pitch training session and package from Startup Victoria which includes support from the landing pad program, business planning services and co-working space.
Six finalists from the Shanghai contest will go on to pitch at the Global Final in Hangzhou, China. The global winner will enjoy access to the strategic investor team within the Alibaba Innovation Centre Global Strategic Customer Support Program, as well as the opportunity to be presented in 43 Alibaba Global Innovation Centres across the region.
