Charity Youth Off The Streets and Smith St Coffee Roasters have launched Cup of Kindness, inviting Australian cafes and workplaces to turn daily coffee sales into community support.
Launching on International Coffee Day, October 1, the fundraising initiative allows participating venues to donate $1 from every coffee sold for a single day, several days, or throughout the month.
Funds raised will support young Australians facing homelessness, domestic violence, financial hardship, and systemic disadvantage.
To drive participation, Smith St Coffee Roasters has contributed the initial $1000 donation and is offering up to 3kg of complimentary coffee beans to participating venues, including non-wholesale customers.
Ross Di Biasi, co-founder of Smith St Coffee Roasters, highlighted that cafes sit at the heart of local neighbourhoods, making the initiative a simple way for venues to rally customers behind a common cause.
“Cafes are often at the centre of their local communities. Cup of Kindness is a simple way for venues to rally their customers behind a cause, make a genuine difference and show that even small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact,” said Biasi.
Registration is free and open to cafes, hospitality venues, and corporate workplaces via the Cup of Kindness website, and businesses can choose their own fundraising timeframe during October.
