A new initiative has been launched to help jobseekers who have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic embark on a new career in technology.

HR and recruitment service provider Randstad has partnered with education and employment organisation WithYouWithMe (WYWM) to create a testing suite that will match a candidate to a particular industry with the support from a career performance coach. Candidates will then be given access to WithYouWithMe Academy so they can partake in digital training courses in IT, cyber, robotics and data analytics.

WYWM’s program has already benefited 15,000 veterans in the past four years and is now being made available to all jobseekers across the country in light of the current situation brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m excited to announce that Randstad candidates will now be able to access WithYouWithMe’s full-tech skills program,” Randstad ANZ CEO, Nick Pesch, said. “With COVID-19 causing havoc in the economy, Australians are looking to take back control of their careers.”

WithYouWithMe CEO and Co-Founder Tom Moore is also enthusiastic about providing jobseekers the opportunities that veterans have enjoyed through the program.

“What is currently happening to thousands of workers across Australia is difficult to watch, with many being forced to make career transitions,” Moore said. “This is similar to the situation more than 5000 Aussie veterans find themselves in each year.

“Tech careers have been proven to be recession-proof, with companies still needing these core skills now and into the future,” Moore added. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with Randstad to expand the program and give these same opportunities to thousands of others.”
