Australian-exclusive consumer marketplace Buy Aussie Now launched

Australian-focused online marketplace, Buy Aussie Now, has launched, featuring a “Tick of Approval” to identify Australian made and owned products.

Launched by federal treasurer The Hon. Josh Frydenberg, it is the first initiative of its kind in the country. The online store, which features 6500 registered businesses, houses about 15,000 Aussie products across nine categories, including home and lifestyle, beauty and health, food and beverage, pets and gifts.

“So many Australians want to support Aussie owned and made businesses but haven’t had a spot to go. Buy Aussie Now is the answer,” Chris White, CEO at Buy Aussie Now, said. “In effect, Buy Aussie Now is an Aussie made and owned Amazon. But the big difference is that the profits, and importantly jobs, stay here in Australia.”

The marketplace concept started as a simple Instagram page last March to support small local businesses in the wake of the bushfires and COVID-19 pandemic.

Seeing the increasing demand, the company raised $850,000 in its initial start-up phase to build the online marketplace.

Besides the launch, the company has also unveiled free “Tick of Approval” to identify Aussie-made products and Aussie-owned businesses.

“We know the free Buy Aussie Now tick of approval will become shorthand for homegrown quality, supporting local families and communities, and the assurance that profits from all sales stay right here in Australia,” White said.

According to the company, the tick of approval will be officially available in the next 10 to 12 weeks.
