Bruce was Group Financial Controller of the highly successful biotechnology company Cochlear Limited. As a start-up, Cochlear’s survival was dependent on external funding, the main source being the range of government grants he secured. After leaving Cochlear, Bruce formed Pattens Group to specialise in securing grants for Australian businesses, only charging a success fee. 32 years later, the Pattens team have successfully claimed over $2 billion in grants with 99 per cent success. As Australia’s only grants specialist, Pattens secure grants from over 1000 programs worth $80 billion annually. Successful applications include R&D Tax Incentives, EMDG, Accelerating Commercialisation, Medical Device Fund, Regional Jobs and Innovation, Tourism Industry Development Fund, ARENA and many many more. Pattens were awarded Best Grants Consultant in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
